The last reading strategy we learnt about was Visualising. Visualising is what we are doing when we create a picture in our minds about what we are reading. This help us understand what is happening in the text.

In 'James and the Giant Peach' the author, Roald Dahl describes James' Aunties in a lot of detail. What do you visualise they look like after reading about them?

Write your answer in a comment. Remember to write it like a letter.

Example:

Dear Year 1/2,

I think Aunt Sponge looks ........
I think she would sound.......
I think she would smell......
I think she is.....

I think Aunt Spiker looks....
I think she would sound.......
I think she would smell.......
I think she is......

This week we are learning about inferring while we read. Inferring is reading between the lines and using our prior knowledge to help us understand what authors are trying to tell us.

We found some examples of this in a book we are reading called 'James and the Giant Peach' by Roald Dahl. What do you think Roald Dahl meant when he wrote:

Picture
1. "Stop talking about that peach!" screeched Aunt Spiker. "You're making my mouth water!"

2. Finally, Aunt Sponge spoke, breaking the silence.

Write your answer for both of these parts of the book in a comment. Make sure you write your comment like a letter:

Example:

Dear 1/2,

1. I think this means........

2. I think this means.......
